The Smith & Wesson Model 66 is a gun produced by Smith & Wesson. It is chambered for the .357 Magnum cartridge and is built on Smith & Wesson’s large K-frame. It was introduced in 1970 and was discontinued in 2005.  

The Model 66 is an eight-shot revolver with a six-inch barrel. It was available in both blued and stainless steel finishes. The Model 66 was popular with law enforcement and target shooters. Some competitive shooters also used it in the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) and the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA).

The Model 66 was introduced in 1970 as a successor to the S&W Model 19, which was discontinued in 1966. The Model 66 was produced until 1992, when it was broken and replaced by the S&W Model 686.

So, the Model 66 was discontinued in 1992 but was reintroduced in 1998 as the Model 686. It is still in the show today and is available with several different barrel lengths and finishes.
