The FN SCAR 17S is a gas-operated, select-fire battle rifle chambered for the 7.62×51mm NATO cartridge. It is a semi-automatic or full-automatic gun with a short-stroke gas piston method and a rotating bolt.  

The FN SCAR is the civilian version of the FN SCAR-H, a battle rifle used by the U.S. military. The FN SCAR is available in both semi-automatic and full-automatic versions. It has a 16.25-inch (413 mm) barrel and a 30-round magazine.
