The FN 509 is a striker-fired semi-automatic pistol designed and manufactured by Belgian firearms manufacturer FN Herstal in Columbia, South Carolina. The FN was introduced in 2017 after three years of development by FN Herstal. It is the successor to the FN509 9mm striker-fired pistol. But the gun is chambered for the 9mm Luger and .40 S&W cartridges and features a polymer frame and a stainless steel slide. It is available with either a 3.7-inch or 4.0-inch barrel. The FN is a double-action-only pistol that utilizes a striker-fired mechanism. It has a magazine capacity of 10 rounds of 9mm Luger or 8 rounds of .40 S&W. The gun features a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail on the underside of the barrel for the attachment of aftermarket accessories. The FN also features a set of white 3-dot sights.
